Sending Out An SOS

  • Hey everyone, I need your help. Ever since I got pregnant and had Kate I have had trouble losing weight. I am not happy with myself and my pride keeps getting in the way of actually doing something about it. I know that I will never stick with anything unless I have some kind of accountability. SO----I've invented this blog in hopes that you will tune in OFTEN to keep tabs on me. Please! I need your help and advice. I've listed my goals on the side, however, I haven't set up a "diet plan" or "exercise routine" quite yet. I would like your advice on what you think would be good before I do so.
  • I will report daily on my progress (more for me, than for you) and will also do a weekly, more detailed report with weight loss and such.
  • This may seem really weird for some of you, but I really do need help and cheers to aid me along. Otherwise, I will just do it for a week and then pig-out on chocolate! Any advice, websites, or recipes or whatever would be great! Thanks everyone, I really appreciate you!

****Friday update! Thanks for all the comments, you have NO IDEA how much it means to me to have your support. So, this is what I have decided thus far, thanks to y'all: I plan on doing a weekly blog, and will update it daily with what I have done and eaten that day. My friend Jill gave me a great idea of setting weekly goals in order to achieve my larger goals. I can't put a timeline on my "big goals", so it will be good to have weekly goals to strive for. Oh, and by the way....if anyone wants to join in on the fun.....please do!

Dear Jen,
I am so proud of you. What guts! If you had too much pride you couldn't go public...so I'm there with you. In honor of your commitment, I'm going to make one myself to lose at least 5 lbs. You may laugh, but this will be hard for me. My goal is to eat healthy, exercise each day, and then have one reward each day whether it be a cookie, piece of candy, etc. Do you think it will work? Love you!

Jen~ Good job chick! Jackie Warner.com has some great eating tips. I love her at home workout because I can do it while Grace naps or before she gets up. Get the eat clean diet cook book and eat clean diet book they have awesome ways to a healthy lifestyle and it isn't like a no carbs no preotein fad diet it is just an awesome way to always eat. If you want I can send you mine. Good job, goodluck I am going to commit to being more healthy myself! Love ya!

GREAT goals Jen. I can join you on them. I really like the idea of planning out my meals - that way we can have great food on hand that is good for us.

That is a great quote about habit. One thing I have heard and totally agree with, is that we can't take something out of our lives without REPLACING it with something better. So if we are cutting out tv watching, are we going to just sit on the sofa? Or what else are we going to accomplish? The idea isn't so much to NOT do something, but rather to DO something better.

I have found there is power in being accountable. I think this is such a great idea what you are doing. A goal without a deadline is just a dream right? (I'm quoting some one, just can't remember who).

My goals for next week:
eat less sugar (that means cutting back on my hot chocolate, boo)
work out 3 times next week
plan meals and have healthy snacks on hand.

Maybe you could make goals for each week? So you can take little steps?

Keep it up and I'll keep checking back. Track your progress so you can see how well you're doing. (Being able to work out for longer, having more energy... that is all great progress).

love you. and so does richard simmons.

Jenners - I'm really proud of you. I'm not sure if I have the commitment to join you, but I'm going to try and exercise, too! Wish me luck! Dad

Yea for you. You got guts! I will help with what I can. I actually need to SEE you though. Sounds like a good time to make breakfast cookies and whip out all my yummy healthy recipes. I am obsessed with eating healthy!

Good for you Jen! You are braver than I am. I gained weight before I got married after I tore my meniscus and couldn't work out. Then gained a lot with each pregnancy in part because of the toxemia. But I only lost half of the weight I gained with each pregnancy. Yikes. Before I got pregnant with Addie, I worked out everyday (minus Sunday) for an hour and half for 6 months. Didn't lose an ounce. I was eating healthy too. I couldn't figure it out. My doctor checked and rechecked my thyroid and finally said some people are just like that. :( I don't want to be like that. The thing is when I was working out my stomach became nice and flat, my waist went in, I had more energy, and my clothes fit better. And I just felt better about myself. All good things. I just wanted to lose all the weight.

I love the website www.sparkpeople.com

You can plan meals, plan your workouts, set goals, and it will help you in all of these areas to help you reach that goal with a timeline. Plus they will email you things you are interested in like new exercises, motivation, healthy recipes, family activities, etc... I think it's a great resource.

So I need to do all these things, but am so discouraged at how my last experience went that I'm not sure I am in the right place to be able to fully commit at this time. However, I'll take it a week at a time. My goal for this week: Exercise 3 times.

Good luck to you!

love, Am
